St. Peter's Christian Church, Forestville, NY

 St. Peter's Forestville

St. Peter’s has a rich history dating back to the 1830s.   Beginning with the missionary efforts of Fr. George S. Porter and Rev. Lucious Smith, the mission grew until it was admitted to the church union in October 1836.  The present church was built in 1859 for a cost of $1,500.00 and was consecrated by Bishop Delaney on May 30, 1860.  At the time, there were 32 communicants.

The Rev. John D. Mears from East Aurora, began serving as priest in August 1997 and served until his death on August 13, 2011, at the age of 99.  In March 2009, the congregation separated from The Episcopal Church and incorporated as St. Peter’s Christian Church.  It became a member of the International Diocese of the Anglican Church in North America in May 2010.
